Is your child getting the coaching they really need?

T
here are two key principles in coaching soccer.
1. Coaching The Players
2. Coaching The Team

Youth Soccer
1. Coaching The Players
Coaching the players means teaching the players soccer-specific techniques that includes
a. Fundamental of Movement
b. Fundamental of Soccer Specific Movement and
c. Fundamental of Ball Handling Techniques

We must realize also that
Psychological Ability, Learning Ability and  Physical Talent are
three non-related skills. However, these are the key elements for success in the sport.

Obstacles of Individual Development.
1.
Your child wants to stay with his/her friend.
This is one of the most common and acceptable reason but it will take an extraordinary
coach to achieve age appropriate Individual Player Development. Most parents will
realize this 2-3 years down the road and by that time their child is 4-6 seasons behind
his/her peers. They may play soccer for their school but do not expect a miracle.

2. Your child is on a good team.
This is a good reason for the child self-esteem. However, where your child is on this
good team is also very important. Is he/she on a supporting role or one of the key
players on the team. Is he/she being used to further other players development or is
he/she in it for the development of their own.

Getting the right trainer or the right training program for your child is
therefore the key to giving your child the help and support he/she need.

Training Resource

1. Dribbling:
a.  Dribbing
Proper technique of dribbling emphasising proper placement of leading foot and
action foot.
b. Dribbling and Shield
This is an extension of technique of dribbling above.
If the player is properly taught and learned, there should be no different between
dribbling a basketball and dribbling a soccer ball. The player should be able to shield
the ball from his/her opponents and do not get dispossess easily.

For this reason, pushing the ball a few steps ahead and chase after the ball does not
constitute dribbling but sadly great numbers of young players did not acquire proper
training even on this fundamental technique.
It is very important for you to know that there are several methods of kicking the
ball. Qualified coaches and trainers are capable of teaching, demonstrating and
correcting the techniques to properly help your child. Proper techniques will allow
your child to enjoy the game and play the game safely. The youth are often lost
interest in the sport because of poor techniques that leading to the youth hurting
themselves. Sadly, in early youth soccer development great number of children are
not receiving proper training and guidance in this crucial aspect of the game.
